1 Timothy 4:8 – For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

On Saturday evenings it is common to find a gathering of middle school students with parents and younger siblings that come together for Bible reading, encouragement and fellowship with their peers in the Lion of Judah Fellowship Hall at the Remnant Fellowship Church in Brentwood, TN. It is an exciting time digging into the word together, sharing convictions, and being encouraged in how to practically put God’s truths into practice. Last week we read the book of 1 Timothy and were encouraged by Paul’s words that even as a young person it is important to devote ourselves to the public reading of scripture (as we were doing), and that we are to set an example for others with our speech, lives, in love, in faith, and in purity! (1 Timothy 4:12, 13). We also talked about how to enjoy sports and physical activity – always keeping it in it’s place and never above training ourselves to live pure. (1 Timothy 4:8) If you have a middle school or elementary-aged child watch for our articles sharing what we are reading and join along with us!
